UCD Bike Days

UCD Bike day is held annually to promote all aspects of cycling: safe cycling practices, the health, economic and environmental benefits of cycling and, bicycle security.

UCD bike days will take place at the student precinct area (located between the Health Science Building and Student Centre) on Wednesday 15th of February, and at the Quinn Concourse on Thursday 16th of February.

Activities will begin at 8.30am when the first 300 cyclists can avail of a complimentary breakfast.

To coincide with UCD Bike Days, the Dublin Bus Urban Jungle demonstration will be on Campus from 10:30am to provide staff and students with the chance to interact with various road safety campaigns and to spread the message about the importance of road safety in a shared environment.

From 11.00 on Wednesday, Staff may avail of a free raffle for a bicycle through the bike to work scheme and Coyne Cycles. On Thursday, vouchers toward solid secure rated bicycle lock will be on offer from The Belfield Bike Shop.

In conjunction with UCD Healthy Eating Week staff and students will have the opportunity to use pedal power to create their own healthy smoothie, or enjoy a trip through campus on a conference bike.

A cycling instructor will be on site to speak with people on safe cycling practices, and demonstrations on bicycle security on campus will be available for anybody interested, and a selection of cycling goodies will be given away.

Finally, staff and students will have the opportunity to sign up for the use of a newly installed secure bicycle lock-up area and bicycle lockers on campus.

UCD Bike Day is organised by UCD Commuting in association with: The Belfield Bike Shop, Coyne Cycles, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, the National Transport Authority and the Road Safety Authority.
