Go Car

GoCar, Ireland’s car sharing initiative has created a new GoBase on the University College Dublin Belfield campus. The GoBase initially consists of two Ford Fiesta GoCity Cars, available to both students and staff at UCD, and a third reserved GoCar Base for visiting GoCars wishing to park. GoCar will offer students and staff an alternative green travel option to augment existing travel infrastructure in and around the campus as well as free parking in Dublin City Council pay and display spaces.

GoCar will offer students and staff an alternative green travel option to augment existing travel infrastructure in and around the campus as well as free parking in Dublin City Council pay and display spaces. UCD is home to over 25,000 students and 3,000 staff with 2,700 students living on site in campus accommodation.

All students and staff aged 21 or over and with a full driver’s license can sign up for a GoCar Membership which will allow them to access vehicles on campus and at any other GoBase in the country.

The GoCar initiative works on a pay-per-trip basis which allows the user the freedom to access a vehicle when and as they need it. On-demand access to vehicles will result in less vehicles being used on Irish roads and a greater interaction with existing public transport infrastructure as commuters make more conscious decisions about their transport needs.
