With another bank holiday weekend upon us, the UCD Energy Unit would again like to ask for your assistance in shutting down non-essential equipment this weekend. We would also like to update you on savings secured from the switch off campaign this year to date.
Our target for bank holiday Monday, 4th May was for consumption below 77,602kWh. Actual usage was 74,276kWH or 4% less than target. This is a fantastic result and we would like to thank everyone for their help!
The impact that you, the building users, can have on electricity usage should not be underestimated. Shutting down non-essential equipment at weekends can mean considerable savings for the University as is detailed below.
So before you go home this weekend, please shut-down and switch-off all non-essential lighting and equipment; laptops, computers, printers, fax machines as well as fume cupboards and research equipment.
Enjoy the long weekend,
